Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then found numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.
A senior representative commented the incident left him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
